We are seeking a DFV Practitioner to join our DFV Services team based in our Western Sydney site to provide direct service provision to women who are victim survivors of DFV.
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical therapeutic case management to women and children living in DVSM’s housing services.
- Provide individual and group trauma and DFV informed sessions to women living in DVSM’s housing services.
- Respond to family’s mental health, safety and wellbeing needs as identified.
- Adhere to mandatory reporting requirements when necessary.
- Document and complete therapeutic case plans and/or safety plans.
- Advocate and capacity build in other services that clients engage with.
- Partake on a rotating roster on on-call response for DVSM services.
About You
- Bachelor degree Social Work/Psychology/Counselling/Psychotherapy. Minimum qualification is desirable, but experience and willingness to participate in training will be strongly considered.
- Valid Driver Licence, Working With Children Check (WWCC), First Aid certification.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the DFV service delivery and gendered based DFV.
- Demonstrated experience in family work with families where there have been DFV experiences
Employment in this position is subject to a satisfactory criminal history record check. The successful applicant is required to possess a valid Working With Children Check (or equivalent). Job Description
The DFV Worker role support women and their children residing in DVSM’s housing services. The role works alongside DFV Practitioners to support women escaping DFV and along children’s services workers to support children and young people residing onsite.
We are currently hiring for 3 positions to join our DFV Services team and Accompanied Children’s Support Service (ACSS) team.
DFV Services – This team provides support to women at our refuge accommodation and outreach support to women who are experiencing, or who have experienced, domestic and family violence.
ACCS - Accompanied Children’s Support Service provides case management and counselling support to children and young people who are experiencing, or at risk of homelessness and who are experiencing, or who have experienced, domestic and family violence in a trauma informed service delivery model.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily support with routine to women and children living in DVSM’s housing services
- Provide support to DFV Practitioners and Children’s Service Practitioners in setting up activities onsite
- Provide support in the day-to-day activities of the housing services.
- Provide support for women in attending appointments e.g. Centrelink, health appointments etc.
- Document in CIMS case notes, complete reports when required.
- Partake on a rotating roster on on-call response for DVSM services.
- Demonstrated experience of working in the DFV sector, family services and/or women’s services
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the gendered basis of DVF
- An understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
- An ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
- Demonstrated experience in working in teams
- Current unrestricted NSW Driver’s licence.

Job Description
The DFV Crisis Support service provides support and intake for women and their children escaping domestic violence which enhances services to clients during and after hours for intake and support for temporary accommodation. The DFV Crisis Support Service is required to be familiar with local temporary providers and have strategies in place to enable access to temporary accommodation.

Your Opportunity
The DFV Specialist Services is a Specialist Homelessness Services (SHS) providing support to women who have experienced homelessness or are at risk of experiencing homelessness as result of DFV. Providing case work and specialist trauma informed support to women with/without children to support women to safely stay at home or find alternative accommodation.
Your role as the DFV Practitioner is to provide direct service provision to women, transwomen and gender-diverse people who are victim survivors of DFV. You will work both independently and as part of a small specialist team delivering person centred outreach support and community engagement across the Inner City of Sydney LGA.
You will work in collaboration with the Senior DFV Practitioner and Manager Specialist Services to support the achievement of organisational goals and maintains a positive culture within team.
Your Impact
- Provide trauma and DFV informed case management support to women.
- Provide outreach support to the target group at various outreach hubs across the service delivery area.
- Respond to client’s mental health, safety and wellbeing needs as identified.
- Provide advocacy and support for families who have experience DFV.
- Arrange Safety Planning with women.
- Document in CIMS case notes and complete reports when required.
What you'll bring to the role
- A relevant degree or certification in social work or related field is preferred.
- 2 years’ experience working directly with clients who have experienced DFV and/or homelessness.
- Demonstrated experience working in direct support roles in the DFV or welfare sector.
- Experience working in a team based environment.
- Working with Children Check (WWCC).
- Valid First Aid Certification.
