The Children’s Support Service is designed to help children and young people who are at risk of homelessness or have experienced domestic and family violence.
The program is focused on the individual’s needs and is provided in DVSM’s refuges or through outreach services, based on what works best for the child or young person
This program takes a person-centered approach, which means support is tailored to the child’s or young person’s life experiences, including their age, gender, culture, language and identity.

The goal is to help them achieve their aspirations, with support focused on their specific needs and circumstances.
The program is also trauma-informed, ensuring that children and young people are not further harmed or blamed for their reactions to trauma.
To be eligible for the program, children and young people must meet these criteria:
- Be aged 0-17 years and live in the Blacktown and Hills Local Government Areas (LGA)
- Be accompanied by an adult parent or caregiver who is also receiving support from our service or another local service provider
- Be experiencing or at risk of homelessness
Have experienced, or are experiencing domestic and family violence.
