Domestic Violence NSW Service Management (DVSM) is a registered charity (ABN: 26-165-400-635) which aims to prevent and to provide support for people escaping/experiencing Domestic and Family Violence and homelessness.

DVSM provides support services in an urban context (Inner Sydney), in a suburban context (Western Sydney) and in remote rural NSW (Wilcannia). DVSM also provides professional services (Sightlines) to build capacity and share learning about Domestic and Family Violence within the Community Services sector and more broadly with the wider ecosystem of corporations, organisations, institutions, online and local communities.

About the opportunity

Leads and manages the Finance and Risk portfolios for DVSM. Managing a small team in Finance and a key leader in the Organisational Services Team who provide the cross-organisational infrastructure and supports relating to Finance, Human Resources, Quality Assurance and Compliance, Projects, and Administrative Supports.

Remuneration - Level 7 of the SCHADS Award, and an additional week of leave.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Contribute to Senior Leadership Team – Governance and Decision Making
  2. Leadership and management of DVSM’s Finance Team and portfolios including the following functions:
    - Governance and Risk Management
    - Finance and Payroll
    - Risk, Quality Assurance and Compliance
    - Information Technology
    - Organisation wide Business Support
  3. Line manage staff as allocated in the organisational structure
  4. Work in alignment with DVSM values and principles
  5. Perform at the relevant level in the CS Capability Framework
  6. Adhere to DVSM’s Policies and Procedures
  7. Undertake other duties within the scope of this role, as reasonably directed


Essential Criteria

  1. Tertiary qualification in business, accounting or similar CA or CPA qualified.
  2. Strong interpersonal skills.
  3. A confident, proactive ‘can-do’ attitude.
  4. Demonstrated ability to be self-directing, plan and prioritise workload and show initiative.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment.
  6. Experience managing and mentoring employees.
  7. Ability to establish and maintain meaningful partnerships. with relevant service providers and stakeholders.

  1. Tertiary Qualification in Social/Community Services or similar.
  2. Strong working knowledge of financial management within a not for profit.
  3. Proven ability to contribute to and execute organisational strategy.
  4. Harnesses information and opportunities to support strategic development.
  5. Strong understanding and knowledge of the governance and risk.
  6. Good understanding of policy framework that supports the domestic and family violence and homelessness sectors.
  7. A successful Working with Children Check (WWCC) and Federal Police Check is required to be employed with DVSM.
